Around two thousand Tango/ Primescan drum scanners were ever built in Kiel, and nobody knows how many survive. Register yours and see exactly where it sits in the production run, alongside every machine documented so far.

The Ser.-No. is on the type plate at the rear, e.g. Ser.-No. 993471045. The first two digits are the build year, the last four are the machine number. The three digits after the year are the product code: Tango and Primescan 7100 share one serial block (347), Tango XL and Primescan 8200 share another (368), and the Primescan 8400 runs on its own (389). Model, build date and country are required; everything else is optional. Owner names, machine condition, exact addresses and emails are never published. The map shows cities only.
The production run.
Every documented serial with a known build date, 1996–2003. The line changes badge from Linotype-Hell to Heidelberg around 1998; the numbering continues. Hover any point for details.
Working estimate: the Tango block reached at least № 1539 (Aug 2002), which suggests roughly 1,600 machines in total; the XL block reached at least № 357, suggesting roughly 400; the 8400 block is documented to № 43. Machines with a year-only date come from service records and are listed in the table but not plotted. Every registration sharpens these numbers.
